David has over 25 years of experience in General Management, Operations Management and Process Improvement; working for the last 18 years in the Life Science sector.
David enjoyed a 15-year career with General Electric in the aerospace industry, holding a range of Engineering, Process Improvement and Operations roles, before joining BioReliance Ltd (now part of Merck) in 2005 in a business improvement role.
David relocated to the Washington DC area in early 2008 to lead the company’s Genetic Toxicology operations before returning to the UK in mid-2010 as Operations Director, based once again in Glasgow.
David moved into the Site Head & Managing Director role in May 2016, providing overall leadership for Merck’s Contract Testing Services sites in Scotland, which employ >750 people across 3 locations. He also holds a global role with teams located in the US, Singapore and China.
In addition, David is the nominated Country Speaker for Merck in the UK. In this role, he is Merck’s representative in the country and leads the Country Leadership Council, which represents all 12 UK-based Merck facilities and over 1,800 employees.
David holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from Glasgow Caledonian University and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Practitioner from General Electric and the Shingijitsu Corporation respectively.
In addition to his various roles at Merck, David is extremely proud to be a Trustee of two Glasgow-based charities: Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and HI Scotland.
