Job Description

The Social Media and Communications Worker will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging communications that promote the work of the centre, raise awareness of our services, and strengthen our connection with women in the community. This role will focus on managing social media platforms, creating accessible and inclusive content, and ensuring consistent and positive communication across all channels.

The worker will also support the team in the day to day running of the Centre where needed and within the skill set.

Please note this is a fixed term work placement with a maximum duration of 26 weeks 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the centre’s social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn) by planning, creating, and scheduling content.
  • Develop clear, accessible, and inclusive messaging to engage diverse groups of women.
  • Design graphics, posters, and promotional materials for events, workshops, and campaigns.
  • Maintain and update the centre’s website and online presence.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to collect stories, photos, and testimonials that highlight the impact of the centre’s work.
  • Support outreach by producing newsletters, flyers, and other communications for both digital and print.
  • Monitor engagement and provide simple reports on communications reach and effectiveness.
  • Uphold the values of confidentiality, inclusivity, and respect in all communications.
  • Contribute to the centre’s wider team efforts, occasionally supporting events and activities.

 

 

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and the role of communications for organisations.
  • Experience managing social media accounts in a professional or voluntary capacity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team.

Desirable:

  • Writing and editing skills, with an ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
  • Creative design skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar tools).
  • Understanding of the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in communications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working or volunteering in community-based or women-focused organisations.
  • Familiarity with basic website management (e.g. WordPress, Wix, Squarespace).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluating social media analytics.
  • Photography and/or video editing skills.

Number of Hours Per Week 21 hours per week for 26 weeks

Working pattern and contracted hours (including any shift patterns)
Monday to Friday 9:30am – 4:30pm. We are flexible and will discuss with the successful applicant what days would suit them best for work. We would prefer 3 days a week but open to discussing the working pattern.

Wages

Salary will be paid monthly and will be £12.60 per hour

Details of Training Provided

We will work directly with the worker to source adequate and appropriate training opportunities, specific to the role. The worker will also receive Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults training as part of working at the Centre and being part of the team.
