Leading politicians to join 'Scotland: Creating the Jobs of Tomorrow' conference

Thank you to all to everyone who has signed up for the ‘Scotland: Creating the Jobs of Tomorrow’ conference on 6 June.  Former Prime Minister the Rt Hon Gordon Brown is looking forward to welcoming you.

We can still take some further bookings for what promises to be an exceptional day of insight and networking.

We’re delighted that two of Scotland’s leading politicians have agreed to come to the conference, to discuss how insights from our speakers and audience can be translated into policy.

We’ll end the day with a discussion about how to boost innovation-led growth with:

  • Douglas Alexander MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy and Economic Security
  • Anas Sarwar MSP, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party.

The discussion will be informed by insight from experts including Nobel Prize-winning economist Michael Spence.

We’ll also hear from people who have been at the sharp end of growing innovative businesses.

Jim Rowan will share his experience as a Scot who has led hi-tech business innovation at Blackberry, Dyson and Volvo Cars.

Chris van der Kuyl has built 4J Studios into a huge Scottish tech success story, including its key role in bringing Minecraft to a wide playership.

They’ll add their perspectives along with those of leading investors who are looking for ways in which they can boost the growth of innovative companies in Scotland. We have some great speakers from the investment community, all of whom are committed to private investment as a force for good.

Dame Kate Bingham of SV Health Investors has unique experience of how government and enterprise can respond to an unprecedented challenge, as chair of the UK Covid Vaccine Task Force.

Kasim Kutay leads the investment foundation of the world’s most valuable pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.

Saul Klein is one of the UK’s leading venture capital investors, and is also advising the UK Government on how to mobilise private investment to create growth.

As well as the politicians, we’ll have senior participation from government and academia to share examples of how public and private investment have been crowded together to drive growth.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on 6 June: you can still book here: Scotland: Creating the Jobs of Tomorrow Tickets, Fri, Jun 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM | Eventbrite.
