Why Now? Why Bremen?
Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has a Memorandum of Understanding with Bremeninvest and a strong relationship with the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and has excellent access to business leaders and connections in the city.
The Bremen area has historically strong trading routes with Glasgow going back hundreds of years and has key sector strengths in the maritime, logistics, automotive, aerospace tech, engineering, renewable energy including green hydrogen and digital sectors. The city-state also boasts high export figures, well developed infrastructure and a reputation for innovation.
Germany is of course the strongest economy in Europe and the third largest in the world. It is a significant trading partner for Scotland, representing its fourth-largest export market. Scottish exports to Germany were valued at £2.3 billion, making up 7.2% of Scotland's total international exports. Germany continues to be a very business friendly culture and very open to collaboration and trade with Scottish business.
This trade mission presents an excellent opportunity for relevant SME’s/Scale-up’s in these sectors or in the supply chain / logistics looking to grow and better understand the market opportunities and to utilise our relationships to boost their export capabilities and form partnerships in Bremen.
