Glasgow Business Growth Council

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has launched a forum that will support our efforts in championing the economic recovery and growth of Glasgow - The Glasgow Business Growth Council.

The forum replaces the Glasgow Business Resilience Council which has been a hugely valuable resource to the Chamber and business community since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic as we struggled together to understand its impact. That group was particularly impactful, meeting almost every week, to discuss and navigate the challenges presented by the pandemic.

The time and dedication from members enabled us to truly represent business by understanding key issues and priorities. It also served as a platform to engage with senior politicians and decisionmakers. Direct benefits of the Glasgow Business Resilience Council included identifying and securing targeted financial support for those sectors hit hardest during Covid restrictions, contributing to business operating guidance and shaping a number of post COVID strategies.

As we move beyond the pandemic and focus our efforts on economic recovery and tackling the macro economic cost pressures that businesses face, we have taken the decision – approved by our governing Council of Directors – to evolve the Glasgow Business Resilience Council into the Glasgow Business Growth Council (GBGC). The success of the GBGC will be reliant on the contributions and commitments of members and we appreciate your ongoing support as we undertake the next wave of activity to take forward our mission to support members and champion the economic prosperity of Glasgow.

The GBGC will continue to offer members a platform to engage with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, contribute to policy development and major initiatives and meet with political stakeholders and policymakers. Recognising the time commitment previously required we have sought to streamline the process and will now run with a reduced frequency whereby the forum meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 3.00 pm on Microsoft Teams.

On each call we will update on Glasgow Chamber's perspective on all that is happening in Glasgow and the city region, discuss business sentiment and priorities, and review key issues of relevance - including major events, projects and policy development.

In addition to the monthly meetings, we will provide exclusive access to political engagement events, influencer dinners and opportunities to contribute to policy development through issue specific short life taskforces.
