Job Description

The Social Media & Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening the visibility and impact of Dress for Success Scotland by creating and delivering engaging digital content, managing our social media channels, and supporting marketing campaigns for events, workshops, and fundraising. Working closely with staff and volunteers, you will gather stories, images, and updates to transform into content that reflects our mission and values, building a consistent and authentic online presence that inspires support and ensures women across Scotland know about our services. Alongside this, you will provide light HR and administrative support to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including maintaining records, supporting recruitment processes, and coordinating staff and volunteer communications. This is a varied role for someone creative and organised who wants to combine digital storytelling with meaningful behind-the-scenes support in a small but impactful charity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage engaging content across social media platforms to strengthen awareness of Dress for Success Scotland.
  • Plan, schedule, and deliver digital campaigns to support events, workshops, and fundraising activities.
  • Gather and share stories, images, and updates from clients, staff, and volunteers in line with brand guidelines.
  • Design creative visuals and communications materials using tools such as Canva (or similar).
  • Monitor and respond to online engagement, helping build a consistent and authentic presence.
  • Maintain records in line with confidentiality requirements.
  • Support internal communications between staff and volunteers.
  • Provide occasional admin support for workshops, events, and day-to-day operations. 

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

  • Experience managing social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) in a professional or organisational context.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging, and inclusive content.
  • Creative flair and confidence using design tools such as Canva (or similar).
  • Organisational skills to plan, schedule, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with sensitivity when handling personal stories.

Desirable 

  • Photography and video editing skills.
  • Knowledge of analytics, insights, and digital performance reporting.
  • Experience developing marketing campaigns or supporting fundraising initiatives.
  • Understanding of the charity, social enterprise, or community sector.

 

Number of Hours Per Week 21 hours per week for 26 weeks

Working pattern and contracted hours (including any shift patterns)
Tuesday to Thursday 10am until 4pm

Wages

Salary will be paid monthly and will be £12.60 per hour

Details of Training Provided

All new staff receive a full induction to Dress for Success Scotland, including an introduction to our mission, values, and services. Specific training for this role will include: 

  • Guidance on our brand guidelines, tone of voice, and content standards.
  • Training in confidentiality and safeguarding when working with client stories.
  • Access to tools and platforms used for content creation, scheduling, and analytics.
  • Ongoing opportunities to attend workshops, digital skills sessions, and charity communications training.

You’ll be supported by the Training Manager/Executive Director, with regular check-ins, feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
