WJM welcomes new solicitors and trainees as investment in talent continues

Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP (WJM) has welcomed their largest ever cohort of trainees across its offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as five newly qualified solicitors, strengthening its teams in key practice areas.

It has been a big couple of years for WJM with strategic investment from Irwin Mitchell and joining forces with Davidson Chalmers Stewart.

Among the firm’s newest five solicitors are Mairi Adams, who joins the Private Client team in Edinburgh, Robyn Black, who takes up a role in Conflict Resolution in Glasgow, and Pip de Klerk, who will be part of the Planning team in Edinburgh.

They are joined by Rachel Pirie, who has become a Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team in Glasgow, and Holly Robertson, who has taken up a post in Corporate in Edinburgh. Each has secured a permanent role with the firm following the successful completion of their training contracts.

WJM has also welcomed 11 new first-year trainees: Andrew McCall, Ben Wilson, Corin Seenan, Joanna Blair, Josh Kennedy, Kirstin Hill, Laurie Adams, Maria Yakovchuk, Niamh MacLaughlin, Victoria Galluzzo and Zoe Wood, who will begin their rotations across a wide range of practice areas including private client, corporate, family law, commercial property, renewables, dispute resolution and residential conveyancing.

Fraser Gillies, managing partner at WJM, said: "It’s always fantastic to see so many new faces join the firm and begin their journey with us. Supporting and developing talent has always been central to our success as we continue to grow across Scotland.

“I’d like to congratulate Mairi, Robyn, Pip, Rachel, and Holly on qualifying as solicitors, and know there are many across the company that share that sentiment of celebration with them. It is great to have them all on-board.”

In addition, seven trainees have now progressed into their second year, further developing their skills and experience across specialist teams. Cameron Watson is continuing his training in Corporate in Glasgow, while David Laird is focusing on Private Client work in the same office. In Edinburgh, Deborah Nicola has moved into Environmental, Waste and Renewables, and Hugo Duffin into Corporate. Back in Glasgow, Olivia Finnie is undertaking her next stage in Family Law, Patricia Gillen is progressing within Corporate Recovery and Governance, and Sophie Baird is gaining further experience in Renewable Energy.
