Glasgow’s original independent cinema, Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT), has relaunched its popular membership scheme, providing new benefits for regular cinema-goers. The cinema, which is a registered educational charity, has also unveiled a new Friends and Patrons scheme, which will enable supporters of the cinema to gain closer access to its work and dedicated team, and join a passionate community of film fans.
GFT’s CineCard membership is designed to enable film fans to see more for less at the cinema. For just £50 per year, CineCard members will receive four free tickets (value £47.60); a discount of £1.50 off standard screenings or £2.50 off Event Cinema screenings; priority booking for Glasgow Film Festival; and the chance to earn loyalty points with every purchase. New for 2025, CineCard members will also now receive exclusive discounts for some of GFT’s favourite local restaurants.
CineCard+, a new membership tier launched in May 2025, will provide access to all of the CineCard benefits plus several additional perks. For £99 per year, CineCard+ members will receive eight free tickets (value £95.20) as well as gaining access to 2-for-1 tickets for a selected screening on the first Monday of the month, invitations to twice-yearly surprise film screenings and social events, and a 10% discount on all GFT café and bar items.
GFT has also announced the introduction of a new Friends and Patrons community, enabling donors to directly support GFT’s community and youth programmes, champion independent cinema in Glasgow and enjoy a benefits package that will bring them closer to the cinema’s work.
For a donation of £120 per year or £10 per month, GFT Friends can step behind the scenes with a tour of the building and the projection booth; receive invitations to two Friends and Patrons events each year; access priority booking for Glasgow Film Festival and other special events; receive a Friends and Patrons quarterly e-newsletter; and get a limited edition GFT Pin Badge.
For a donation of £420 per year or £35 per month, GFT Patrons receive all of the benefits of the Friends scheme as well as an invitation to join the Glasgow Film CEO for a welcome lunch; two complimentary tickets to the Glasgow Film Festival Opening Gala; and the chance to be acknowledged as a supporter on a Thank You page on the GFT website.
David Gattens, Finance / Commercial Director at Glasgow Film, said: ‘We are incredibly fortunate to have such a loyal and passionate community of film fans for whom attending GFT is a favourite and frequent pastime. With over 1,000 members already signed up to our CineCard scheme, we are excited to bring our most passionate customers the chance to save more money, enjoy more perks and see more films for less at GFT with our relaunched CineCard memberships.’
Seonaid Daly, Executive Director at Glasgow Film said: ‘As an educational charity and not-for-profit organisation, GFT depends upon the generous support of our donors, who help us to achieve our mission of providing Cinema For All. We are so grateful to our community of supporters, many of whom donate to GFT regularly throughout the year and are integral to the work we do. We are delighted to launch our new Friends and Patrons scheme, which offers a wonderful package of benefits for our valued supporters and gives them the chance to socialise with one another too!’
GFT’s membership offer is completed by its existing 15-25 Card, which is free for anyone aged 15-25, giving the youngest film fans access to £6.40 cinema tickets, discounted tickets for Glasgow Film Festival, loyalty points and one free youth screening every month.
