Glasgow Talks: International Trade, Tariffs and the "Art of the Deal"

Date: Thursday 19 June 2025

Time: 10.00 am - 12.00 noon

Join us for the latest edition of Glasgow Talks, the flagship speaker series from the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, as we delve into the evolving landscape of international trade, tariffs, and the strategic negotiations shaping global commerce.

We are delighted to welcome William Bain, Head of Trade Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce, who will share expert insights into the current state of UK trade policy, the impact of global tariff regimes, and the delicate balance of diplomacy and strategy in international deal-making.

With a background in law, politics, and trade advocacy, William brings a unique perspective on how businesses can navigate the complexities of post-Brexit trade, emerging global markets, and shifting regulatory frameworks:

Following the presentation, we will have an interactive question and answer session which in additional to William, will include two businesses in the front line of trading internationally to discuss.

  • The UK’s trade relationships in a changing geopolitical climate
  • The role of tariffs in shaping competitive advantage
  • Lessons from recent trade negotiations and what they mean for Scottish exporters
  • How businesses can prepare for future trade challenges and opportunities

This is a must-attend event for business leaders, exporters, policy professionals, and anyone with a stake in the future of international commerce.
