For travel by bus, train and Subway, ZoneCard tickets offer smart and convenient access to unlimited travel across the west of Scotland.
ZoneCard – which is run by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport on behalf of the operators – is Strathclyde’s longest serving integrated ticket option proving a popular ticket choice for many for more than 30 years across the region, due to its convenience of use across all modes of travel. In 2024, ZoneCard was modernised into a smartcard format. At the same time, a new one-day ticket and flexi tickets were added to meet customer needs.
Customers can order a brand new ZoneCard smartcard – or to maximise convenience, can simply use an existing card such as a ScotRail or Subway smartcard if they already have one. Registration and ticket purchase can be carried out online, while tickets can also be purchased at local Payzone stores throughout the area.
The best value for travel comes with annual ticket purchase and SPT works with many employers to facilitate annual ticket purchase. Employers can cover the up front of annual tickets, which is then recovered through salary deductions. This way employers can support their employees to make convenient and sustainable travel choices.
As well as making the daily commute easier and cheaper, once a customer has a ZoneCard ticket they can use it for all their other travel needs as well – for weekend trips to the shops, to visit family, or anywhere else a bus, train or Subway journey can take them.
Michael Nimmo, SPT’s Ticketing Manager explained:
“Glasgow and the west of Scotland benefit from an extensive and varied public transport network and ZoneCard is the perfect option for those who need to use a combination of train and bus travel, and Subway as well.”
