New UK housing evidence International Advisory Board will address global housing challenges

The University of Glasgow based UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE), the leading evidence centre on housing research, has announced that its newly formed International Advisory Board will be chaired by Gavin Smart, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute for Housing (CIH).

The CaCHE International Advisory Board (IAB) plays a crucial role in guiding CaCHE's strategic direction, building international partnerships and ensuring the research produced addresses the most pressing challenges in housing across the globe.

Comprising distinguished experts and leaders from various sectors, the board ensures that its research remains at the forefront of addressing housing challenges on a global scale.

This week, the board will provide insight to help shape a major two-year project that seeks to tackle a cross-UK housing system problem of real significance, based on data gathered from the five regional CaCHE knowledge exchange hubs.

As Chair, Gavin Smart will bring extensive experience in housing policy, research, and advocacy.

Gavin said:

"I am honoured to take on the role of Chair for the CaCHE International Advisory Board. Housing is a complex and multifaceted issue, and collaboration is essential in finding effective solutions. I look forward to working with the board and leveraging their collective knowledge and expertise to advance the understanding and impact of housing policies and practices worldwide."

Professor Ken Gibb, Director of the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence, added:

"Gavin Smart's appointment as Chair of the International Advisory Board is testament to the calibre of leadership we are fortunate to have within CaCHE. His wealth of experience and dedication to the housing sector align perfectly with our mission.

“I am confident that under Gavin's guidance, the International Advisory Board will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of CaCHE and its global impact."
