Stuart had a varied 34-year career in mainstream banking leaving a senior role in late 2010 to establish a successful business advisory consultancy. From early 2016, initially alongside his consultancy, until April 2024 he led DSL Business Finance Ltd as Executive Director – a Glasgow based alternative lender to SMEs throughout Scotland where he remains a board director. This was a time of consistent growth for DSL.
A member of the GESB since inception, Stuart has been a Council Director of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce since 2008 and currently serves as a member of the Chamber’s Audit and Risk Committee.
Away from business, Stuart is a keen sports fan – primarily Golf, Rugby and Football and has recently completed a 4-year term as Chair of Haggs Castle Golf Club. Scouting has been a lifetime interest and as well as serving in numerous adult volunteer roles Stuart’s underlying passion is to ensure that young people are given every opportunity to be the best they can be such that they take a constructive place in society – something that aligns well with the objectives of GESB.
