City Sightseeing Glasgow has officially launched its summer 2026 service, unveiling an enhanced route designed to showcase the very best of the city’s world-class culture, heritage, and visitor attractions, with Glasgow Science Centre and the historic Govan Stones now permanent fixtures on the tour.
To kickstart the season, the service will increase frequency to every 20 minutes from this Friday (22 May), before moving to a peak summer schedule of every 15 minutes from 26 June, perfectly timed for the school holidays.
Following two highly successful summer seasons, several of Glasgow’s coolest hidden gems and historic treasures have now been made permanent, year-round fixtures on the route. Passengers can now seamlessly visit the Glasgow Science Centre, the historic Govan Stones, home to incredible Viking-age history, as well as Argyle Street and The Hidden Lane, Finnieston's vibrant, colourful community of independent artists, antiques, and cafes.
The launch comes at a time of immense buzz for the city. With a blockbuster summer of festivals, concerts, and major events on the horizon, not least among them the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the tour offers the ultimate vantage point for both international tourists and staycationing locals to experience Glasgow’s electric atmosphere.
To accommodate ongoing public realm works at George Square, stop 1 will temporarily relocate to George Street (near the AC Marriott Hotel) from Friday 22 May. The main departure point is scheduled to return to its traditional George Square location on Monday 08 June.
Richy Graham, regional operations manager for City Sightseeing Glasgow, said: "Glasgow is gearing up for a monumental summer, and we are thrilled to welcome passengers aboard our newly expanded route.
"The addition of Glasgow Science Centre and the Govan Stones as permanent stops is a fantastic enhancement for visitors looking to experience both the innovation and deep history of the city. From interactive science and family attractions to remarkable Viking heritage, the route showcases the diversity and character that makes Glasgow such an exciting place to explore."
The city’s only open-top tour features 24 stops, including Glasgow Cathedral, Glasgow Green, the SEC, Riverside Museum, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and Govan. Tours are brought to life by local guides on every second bus alternating with multilingual audio commentary.
