The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice has announced that Chief Executive Rhona M Baillie OBE has given notice of her intention to retire at the end of this year. Rhona has led the hospice for more than 20 years and in that time successfully led the capital appeal of £21million which allowed us to build our fantastic facility in Bellahouston Park. She has also been integral in the advancement of palliative care across Scotland, as chair of the Scottish Hospices Leadership group during COVID. Rhona is and will always be passionate about patient and family care.
Rhona has provided our Board of Trustees with a lengthy notice period to allow the appointment of her successor and ensure a smooth transition period, for which we are very grateful.
Following an extensive recruitment campaign by our Board, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Manish Joshi to the role. Manish is currently Professor of Practice for Social Innovation leading the University of Strathclyde’s social innovation cluster at the University and within the Glasgow City Innovation District (GCID) – taking a placed based approach to innovation and partnering with the third sector, public sector, industry, academia and local communities. He is a non-executive director with the Scottish Government, Commonwealth Games 2026 and the Wheatley Group and has served on a number of charity and social enterprise boards throughout his career.
Manish has previously worked in financial services, health & social care, climate change & sustainability as well as in higher education and has spent the majority of his career as a leader in the not for profit and voluntary sectors - working locally, nationally and internationally.
PPWH looks forward to welcoming Manish on 17 August at which point he will work with Rhona during a handover period.
