Barrhead Travel is celebrating one of its busiest ever trading weekends following a surge in demand driven by Friday evening’s World Cup group announcement. The draw prompted a wave of enquiries from football fans across the country, generating a major spike in its stores, call centres and online channels.
As supporters lock in their travel for next year’s tournament, Barrhead Travel reported Boston, New York and Florida have emerged as the top three booked destinations.
To support the surge in demand, most Scottish stores extended their opening hours throughout the weekend, and the business introduced a dedicated World Cup customer line to help manage the high volume of enquiries.
The uplift in demand came alongside another major milestone for the business: over the weekend, Barrhead Travel was officially announced as the Scottish FA’s Official Fan Travel Partner and the recommended travel partner for the Scotland Supporters Club.
Other booking trends Barrhead Travel’s experts noted were that many supporters are opting for packages with match tickets included as well as committing to longer trip durations to take in all three confirmed matches or extend their trips to enjoy post-match holidays.
Barrhead Travel is encouraging fans to book early to secure preferred flights, accommodation and packages while availability remains stable.
