Alison McRae, Senior Director at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said:
"This is exactly the kind of investment Glasgow's city centre needs right now. A £160 million commitment to a prominent, underused site sends a clear signal to businesses and investors that Glasgow is an attractive investment proposition and ambitious in its intent.
"A revitalised Chinatown will bring new homes, new visitors and a genuine cultural destination back to Cowcaddens. That means more footfall, more spending and more opportunity for businesses across the city centre.
"Getting underused city centre sites working again is one of the most effective things we can do for long-term economic growth and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce welcomes this proposed investment.”
