An enhanced offering of taxi marshals assisting passengers at key event ranks is one of a number of measures being made by Glasgow Taxis to further strengthen customer safety.
Glasgow Taxis are pleased to announce an increase in the number of taxi marshals they provide – now up to eight thanks to the addition of Robert Malcolm and Stephen Munn – helping the public travel safely, predominantly to and from the OVO Hydro.
The key objective of Glasgow Taxis’ trained and PVG-checked marshals is to help the public access a taxi safely and as quickly as possible at designated ranks, particularly at the conclusion of highly attended events.
So far in 2026 Glasgow Taxis have supported an estimated 30,000+ journeys following events at the OVO Hydro alone, helping people get into their taxi and home safely after their night out. In addition, all Glasgow Taxis vehicles accept card payment, with every driver a member of the PVG scheme managed by Disclosure Scotland, to ensure that safety remains top priority, matching what customers have told the firm via regular online surveys and feedback forms.

That is why we are doubling down on our commitment to our passengers with the addition of two new, experienced marshals to expand our team. New Glasgow Taxis marshals Robert and Stephen join existing marshals John Thomson, John Wolfson, Jim Ross, Jamie Lauder, Stephen McMillan and William Kemp.
