Fresh from the kitchen to your skin: Lush turns Glasgow City store into live cosmetics cooking show this August

Ever wondered what's really in your skincare, and just how it benefits you? This August, Lush is turning its three UK flagship stores into something that feels a lot more like a Saturday morning kitchen show. As part of Lush Fest, ‘Fresh Kitchen Live’ comes to Lush Glasgow City, Liverpool, Oxford Street and seeing Lush's compounders, the cosmetic chefs from Lush Manufacturing, cooking up skincare products from scratch live in front of customers - using the same fresh fruit, veg and whole ingredients the brand has built its name on for the past 30 years.

Visitors can watch step-by-step how Lush’s experts get the very best out of fresh ingredients in its minimally processed skincare. Fruits, vegetables and botanicals are at their most nutritious the moment they are harvested, which is why Lush uses whole ingredients full of naturally active enzymes, vitamins and minerals such as antioxidant-rich blueberries, brightening pineapple and natural preservative honey, served fresh to deliver maximum nutrition to the skin. Cutting and juicing fruits and vegetables, mixing oils and butters, expertly heating, cooling and blending to produce the ultimate fresh skincare treats. In true cooking show style, a presenter will be on hand to talk customers through each ingredient and the benefits for their skin, and the floor will be open to audience questions and close up looks at the ingredients encouraged.

Anyone who fancies a taste can take home a freshly made sample. For those preferring to ‘dine in’, a Lush skincare expert will be on hand to apply the products to the face and recommend the perfect pairings to compliment each handmade batch.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a live DJ, re-fresh-ments, and plenty more for an afternoon of fresh experiences, good vibes and great skin.

Alongside the live ‘cooking’, each event includes:

  • Taster sessions of Lush’s popular ‘Meet Your Microbiome’ sessions. Customers can make their own cleanser, while getting to know their skin and which ingredients can help them look after it
  • espoke skincare consultations with Lush's in-store experts, with the option of an on-face application

There will also be live music from ShedCat (Femme DM)

The collective's vision is to empower female-identifying DJs to get into the local music scene, and they regularly host open decks in Glasgow to encourage and celebrate upcoming local talent. FemmeDM is an inclusive, supportive community for female and LGBTQ+ DJs in the electronic music community.

"At Lush we’re offering a fresh alternative to ultra processed cosmetics by making plant-powered formulas with whole ingredients, just as you’d expect a fresh meal to be made. We're inviting people into our shops to see that in action: how our products are made with the freshest ingredients, with no mystery about what's happening behind the scenes, showing it really is what’s inside that counts." - Laura Percival, Lush Skincare Category Lead

The events are free with tickets available via the Lush app.

About Lush Fest:

People are more ‘connected’ than ever, yet increasingly disconnected from each other. According to the WHO, one in six people worldwide report feeling lonely. This summer, Lush has curated a festival of connection with in-store events across the UK.

From August to October 2026, Lush — famous for quitting major social media platforms back in 2021 — is opening its doors across London, Liverpool, Glasgow, Poole, Brighton, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds and Bath for Lush Fest, a curated series of in-store events designed to help people log off, reconnect and feel better.

With sound baths, product-making, botanical hair washes, fragrance readings, live music, comedy nights, secret gigs and expert talks, there is something for everyone at Lush Fest and none of it increases your screen time.

About Lush

Since 1995, Dorset-based fresh, handmade cosmetics company Lush has been driven by innovation and ethics. As the original creators of pioneering beauty products, Lush's most well known inventions have become mainstream, packaging-free staples, including the shampoo bar, bath bomb and bubble bar.

Invented in 1989 by Lush co-founder Mo Constantine in her garden shed, bath bombs have become a global sensation. Each one is hand pressed in Lush’s own manufacturing sites across the world, with over 30.5 million made last year!

Lush cosmetics are made using fresh, active ingredients, with minimal or no preservatives. Almost every day, its factories receive deliveries of fruit and vegetables which are peeled, blitzed and mashed into hundreds of products; because the fresher the ingredient, the more nutrients it contains.

As a beauty company with a campaigning heart, Lush is on a mission to create a product for every need and continue on its cosmetic revolution to save the planet; the ultimate goal is to leave the world ‘Lusher than we found it’. Over its 30-year history, Lush has donated over £100 million to grassroots organisations supporting human rights, animal protection and environmental causes.

Today, Lush operates in over 50 countries with over 850 shops, 38 websites shipping worldwide and a global network of native apps, broadcasting channels and digital communities in over 30 languages.
