COP26 Travel Demand Management Business Bulletin

COP26 is only 3 days away, the scale and impact on transport and travel is expected to be unprecedented.

Upcoming Road Closures

Many of the roads around the main venue, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) are now closed, including the closure of the Clydeside Expressway (A814), Clyde Arc and parts of Finnieston Street until 06:00 Monday 15th November.

There are further closures in the coming days including:

  • Closure of Minerva Street and West Greenhill Place from Thursday 28 October (0600) to Saturday 13 November (0600). Local access will be maintained.
  • Closure of Lancefield Quay, Elliott Street, Lancefield Street, Hydepark Street, Whitehall Street, Warroch Street and Cheapside Street from Thursday 28 October (0600) to Saturday 13 November (0600). Local access will be maintained.
  • Closure of Kelvin Way to all traffic including pedestrians and cyclists from Friday 29 October to Tuesday 2 November (inclusive)  and Friday 5 November to Saturday 6 November (inclusive).
  • Closure of the Tradeston M8 on-slip (eastbound) at West Street from Saturday 30 October (0600) to Saturday 13 November (0600).

­To facilitate COP26, the M8 will be subject to lane restrictions and road closures from 20:00 Saturday 30th October until 06:00 Monday 15th November. The Tradeston M8 On-slip at West Street will be closed with no access to North Street/Charing Cross. A signed diversion route will be in place from West Street to North Street, via Kingston Street, George V Bridge and the Broomielaw. Access to Bothwell Street from the M8 Eastbound at Junction 18 will remain open.

Free Webinars for Businesses

During the build up to COP26, we will be hosting online webinars to provide more information and support to businesses on how to plan ahead. These webinars will be facilitated by travel planning specialists and will include:

  • Changes to the road, public transport, and walking and cycling network during COP26
  • How journeys may be affected during COP26 including specific days, times, locations, and modes which are expected to be particularly busy
  • Advice, messages, and top tips to manage the impact on your business
  • Opportunity for discussion and questions with experts
