Daniel Greenock, manager of The Strathearn at Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, has been named as the 2020 Restaurant Manager of the Year by the Institute of Hospitality and the Academy of Food & Wine Service. Beating strong competition from across the UK.
The awards acknowledge and reward those leading across the hospitality industry. The ceremony, in its eleventh year is run by the Institute of Hospitality and the Academy of Food & Wine Service, took place on 6 January at The Savoy in London.
Daniel said: “I’m honoured and delighted to achieve this prestigious accolade in what is a highly competitive industry, and against my professional peers, many of whom are a source of inspiration to me. This award is testament to the tremendous team of talented individuals who work tirelessly with me every day to offer an outstanding guest experience.”
Chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality, Peter Ducker, said: “We had more than 50 applicants to what is a very rigorous competition, it’s a real achievement. The competition is about finding the best restaurant manager but also, it’s about sharing ideas, learning from each other and celebrating the role.”
