Matt Forde, national head for NSPCC Scotland: “In the past, we have found that women with the most severe difficulties did not have equal access to local specialist care when compared with women elsewhere in the UK.
“It means that today’s report by the Perinatal Mental Health Managed Clinical Network and the investment announced into new services marks a hugely important step towards getting it right for all mothers and babies in Scotland.
“We hope it will help relieve the distress experienced each year by thousands of women as well as their partners and families. Investing in perinatal mental health protects two generations at once, improving maternal mental health and helping child development.”
