Glasgow Chamber of Commerce is set to host an upcoming trade mission to Berlin, taking place from 25-28 June. The mission is hosted by Glasgow and Edinburgh Chambers of Commerce and supported by Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International.
Berlin has emerged as a vibrant, creative, cultural city building a reputation for its growing start-up ecosystem. The city has a culture infused with creativity, openness and transformation with global aspirations, and is the fastest-growing business region in Germany since 2006.
Glasgow has similar aspirations with an equally vibrant cultural economy, as well as a growing technology sector, and has the potential to be a world-class economy primed for inward investment in addition to supporting the trade and export of key goods and services.
The 2018 European Championships, jointly hosted by Berlin and Glasgow, offers a unique opportunity to foster links in innovation and incubation as well as encourage trade and investment between the two cities. This is strengthened by the recent Memorandum of Understanding between Glasgow and Berlin Chambers of Commerce, which aims to boost trade relationships between the two cities.
The trade mission will include trips to Nuremberg and Munich, where delegates will have access to a varied range of seminars and presentations, and will be introduced to local businesses.
Lynne Jhangeer, sales and export director of LINIAN Fire Clip, a Glasgow-based delegate of the Trade Mission, said, “We are delighted to be one of the organisations participating in the forthcoming Berlin trade mission supported by The Glasgow and Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, Scottish Enterprise and SDI.
“LINIAN’s vision is to build a business with a global network in virtually every country across the Globe. Germany often leads the way in design with their fresh approach to innovation and forward thinking coupled with the highest standards and our product range complements this well.
“The support of the aforementioned organisations as we set out to do this is invaluable and gives us confidence to drive our expansion forward.”
