This is the second year a group of students on the Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPEX) at IIM-C has made the trip to Scotland after partnering with Strathclyde Business School.
The group of 20 students were in Scotland from July 30 to August 11 to gain international business perspectives and insights through a series of presentations, networking opportunities and visits to some of the University’s industry and business partners.
Topics included: challenges for Indian companies due to European market regulations, building a brand, implications of Brexit, global trends in offshoring, nearshoring and reshoring and supply chain management. Students also received presentations from Scottish Development International on the ‘Scotland is Now’ campaign and Indian businesses in Scotland – Tata and Wipro.
As part of the programme students visited Strathclyde Business School as well as the Weir Group, ScottishPower, William Grant and Sons, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The cultural aspects of the trip included visits to Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh, the largest lake in Great Britain – Loch Lomond, Glengoyne whisky distillery and Stirling Castle.
Professor Phil Taylor, of the Department of Work, Employment & Organisation, said: “It has been great to welcome another group of students from IIM-Calcutta.
“The Immersion Programme is a unique educational experience which combines intensive classroom and workshop learning with engagement with industry and stretches students’ experience and insight beyond the Indian context.
“The programme provided this cohort of the Executive MBA with global, European, UK and Scottish insights into business developments.”
