In detail

Edrington has worked for 160 years to build a responsible and sustainable business that respects the environment around us.

They have an ambitious sustainability strategy which focuses on the environment and is developed with the UN Sustainable Development Goals in mind.

Within the strategy’s focus areas, its ‘Protecting the environment’ focus aims to:

  • Promote a circular economy
  • Sustain wood
  • Protect water
  • Conserve habitats
  • Reduce carbon emissions

Within each of these ambitions, Edrington has set itself targets to meet including achieving zero waste to landfill from its own operations by 2025 – it will do this by repurposing waste from the making of our spirits, reducing the environmental impact of packaging and marketing materials and eliminate sending waste to landfill.

It also aims to become a carbon-neutral business by 2030 for its distilleries, offices and travel, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 70% compared to 2016 levels.

As well as its commitment to protecting the environment, Edrington’s sustainability strategy also includes focuses on Giving More by positively contributing to the communities and societies they live and work in, Promoting Responsible Consumption and Engaging Great People by cultivating an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity of thinking.
