The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, in Glasgow city centre, exists to help our patients achieve the best quality of life possible in whatever time remains.

Due to the constraints of our current building, we have launched our Brick by Brick Appeal to raise £21million and build a brand new home for the hospice in Bellahouston Park, on land gifted by Glasgow City Council. This will enhance all our services and allow us to lower our age limit to patients aged 16 and above.

The hospice cares for more than 1200 patients and their families every year. We take a holistic approach, recognising our patients' emotional, social and spiritual needs as well as practising advanced pain and symptom control. We treat the person, not the disease - and also offer practical and emotional support to families and carers in this most difficult of times.

We offer four distinct areas of care to patients; an inpatient unit, day services, a multidisciplinary community team and input to acute hospital teams. Patients may access any or all of them, according to individual needs and choices.

As a registered charity, all care is free of charge and we must raise £3m annually from voluntary donations to maintain our current services.

The new building will include 16 private en-suite rooms, including two beds for young people. All of the rooms will open to outdoor space and landscaped gardens.

Other advantages include much better access, greatly improved facilities for out-patients and day services patients and the opportunity for families to stay overnight.
