For our city's businesses to operate efficiently and drive the economy, it is essential that there is a adequate transport network which is efficient, cost effective and resilient.
Since Transport Summit 2010, there have been significant developments which include: the completion of the M74; Airdrie-Bathgate rail link; new flights from Glasgow's Airports and Scottish Government support for Fastlink and Glasgow Subway.
The 2011 will focus on the transport user and the experience and aims to collectively agree a prioritised approach for 2011 and beyond.
- Keynote address by Keith Brown MSP, Minister for Housing and Transport
- The day will concentrate on the key themes of the commuter's journey, getting goods to market, the expectations of the business and leisure traveller and the transport strategy.
This is a must attend event for transport users, providers, businesses, policy makers, funders and local authorities to participate and influence future transport priorities and issues as Glasgow strives to connect to compete throughout the world.
The 2010 summit brought together transport experts from the public and private sector to discuss transport and its implications to the wider economy and wellbeing and efficiency of the West of Scotland. The event adopted a panelist approach to drive engagement with the audience and encourage discussion. The summit examined air, land freight, land passenger and sea priorities with over 25 panelists contributing throughout the day and over 120 delegates attending the event. The summit was a major contributor to the development of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce's Transport Priorities policy document.
