Scotkart's new fleet.

Scotkart, Scotland's original indoor karting centre opened 21 years ago this month and the company are celebrating 21 years of innovating and defining the UK karting industry by introducing a world's first in karting through a fleet of one-of-a-kind, custom-made karts designed exclusively by the company.

An investment of £80,000 and close work with the UK kart manufacturer, Biz, has enabled the experts at Scotkart to design a new fleet of 18 specialist "Scotkart Biz SLR3" karts which offer the best experience in indoor karting available in the UK at present.

In comparison to the standard, heavy indoor kart, the new fleet has been stripped back to deliver a new, lightweight kart which is 25% lighter than the traditional indoor kart, offers faster speeds and razor sharp handling. The karts are launched today for public use.

Unhappy that most indoor karts had become heavier over the years, which dulls the handling and driving experience for customers, the Directors, Stewart and Duncan Matthews, went back to the drawing board with Biz, and designed a lightweight chassis more akin to a competition kart, with a single rail frame, rather than the double frame found on most corporate karts.

The result is an incredibly responsive chassis with razor sharp handling, guaranteed to put a big grin on any drivers face. Although they are more expensive to maintain (Scotkart employs a team of 3 full time kart mechanics) the trade-off is a far better customer race experience.

21 Years of Innovation

For the past 21 years Scotkart have been bringing karting innovations to the UK, from opening the first indoor karting centre in 1991, founding the National Karting Association body in 1993, creating one of the first multi-level karting tracks available in 1997, and turning their two kart tracks in Clydebank and Cambuslang into activity centres with state-of-the-art lazer tag facilities throughout the 2000s. Now, introducing the company's own custom-made karts, it is clear that Scotkart will continue to keep karting in Scotland ever ahead of the curve.
