Glasgow Credit Union announced the appointment of June Walker as their new Chief Executive today.

Ms Walker - who has a wealth of experience across the spectrum of the financial services sector and was latterly Regional Director for Wealth for Scotland and Northern England within Lloyds Banking Group - joins the UK's largest credit union following a period of tremendous commercial success for the profit sharing business.

Commenting on her appointment, Walker says: "I'm delighted to be leading such a prestigious business, which is considered to be a figurehead for the credit union sector. I have a strong vision for the next five years that will focus on serving our members effectively and implementing systems and processes to support our on-going growth. Glasgow Credit Union will no longer be Glasgow's best kept secret but a financial alternative for everyone living or working in the city.

Credit union chairperson Robert Auld says "Walker was a natural choice for the appointment, with proven experience, which will help enhance our strategic plans to lead the business, management team and employees through the next stage of our success."

Glasgow Credit Union is a mutual financial organisation. Larger than some building societies on the high street, it offers savings, loans, mortgages and other financial services to people living or working in the 'G' postcode area. Profits are shared annually between members. All companies operating from within a G postcode can become an employer partner.
