The Great Place to Work® Institute UK has named Glasgow based Clyde Marine Training as one of Scotland's Best Small Workplaces for the second year running, joining brands such as Material Communications, LBi bigmouthmedia, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and Starbucks, who were also recognised.
As part of The Clyde Group, Clyde Marine Training (CMT) specialise in the recruitment and training of Merchant Navy Officer Cadets on behalf of 54 major Shipping Companies across the globe and have established themselves as the largest training provider in the UK with approximately 50% of Trainee Officers entering the British Merchant Navy via CMT.
CMT Managing Director, Colin McMurray, commented on the award: "As an organisation, we have grown year on year since our foundation in 1986, but this has only been possible because of the fantastic staff we have working here. Not only does this award recognises the huge value and trust we place in our staff, but compliments our diversification which is conveyed back to our business with delighted clients"
The award is all the more special for the management at CMT as it is determined by employee ratings collected as part of an independent survey conducted by Great Place to Work®, who work with some 5,500 organisations around the world representing around 10 million employees.
The Great Place to Work® Institute measures the key elements of 'People who Trust their Management', 'Have pride in what they do' and 'Enjoy working with their colleagues', and define a great workplace as a place where you 'achieve organisational objectives with employees who give their personal best and work together as a team or family, all in an environment of trust.'
This award also follows on from Clyde Marine Training being named the Best Performing Small Business in the 2010 Glasgow Business Awards.
