Over 200 football fanatics gathered at Action for Children Scotland's annual Sports Dinner on Friday 15 June 2012 to mark the end of the football season - and celebrate the beginning of a summer of sport.
Football legend Mark Hateley spoke about playing for top-level football leagues in England, Italy, France and Scotland; and Real Radio's Peter Martin hosted the ultimate sports quiz - with Ernest and Young LLP named champion on the night.
The fundraiser kicked off with a football tournament at Murray Park on Friday 8 June; when the coveted the Charity Cup was lifted by JRG Cleaning.
In total, the Sports Dinner and Charity Cup raised £32,000 for the leading children's charity.
The Sports Dinner was sponsored by paper exporters, PG Paper. Puneet Gupta said: "I am very pleased PG Paper was able to support the work of Action for Children Scotland by sponsoring the Sports Dinner. It is a great event which allows supporters to raise vital funds for a very worthy cause; whilst showing off their sporting skills in the quiz!"
Paul Carberry, operational director of children's services at Action for Children Scotland, said: "I would like to thank everyone who took part in our Charity Cup and Sports Dinner - flexing their brawn in the football tournament and brains in the sports quiz. Across the two events we raised an impressive £32,000, which will help Action for Children Scotland to continue to support the country's most vulnerable and neglected children, young people and families."
