Semple Fraser: bringing in the changes

Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester based Semple Fraser LLP has brought in 2012 with a new management structure and key promotions.

As of 1 January Alister Fraser, after 19 years in the role, stepped down as Managing Partner and began a new role as Chairman.

Simon Etchells, a senior partner within the firm's top ranked Real Estate Team and founding member of Semple Fraser has taken over as Managing Partner and Andrew Hastings, Finance Director has been moved up to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer.

There have also been three legal team promotions; Anju Suneja to Partner, Fiona Carlin to Director and Fiona Ross to Associate.

Anju Suneja has been promoted to Partner within the firm's very active UK Real Estate Team. A Director since 2008 Anju, along with Simon Etchells, has played a key role in the development of the full UK service and most recently jointly led on the £70 million acquisition of Corby Town Centre on behalf of Helical Bar plc.

Fiona Carlin joined Semple Fraser's Corporate Recovery and Insolvency Group as a solicitor in April 2008, having become an Associate in November 2008 she has now been promoted to Director. She has been involved in a number of appointments for large accountancy firms, including KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, Zolfo Cooper, BDO and Invocas. Most recently she worked on the administration of D2 Jeans on behalf of BDO.

Finally, Fiona Ross, a specialist in waste, renewables and environmental law, has been promoted to Associate having joined the firm as a trainee in 2006. Alongside Vincent Brown, Fiona is highly regarded as a specialist advisor within the fields of EU and UK waste, industrial regulation and renewable energy laws and policies, and the interplay between all of these.
