Glasgow Chamber of Commerce hosted an event for employability practitioners in the city who work with unemployed young people. The event promoted the range of exciting opportunities on offer at Scottish Power. Paul Cormack and Tracy Buchannan from Scottish Power presented on their up coming recruitment drives and encouraged those present to promote to their clients. Advisors from Jobcentre Plus; the Wise Group; Skills Development Scotland and a number of other agencies were told that Scottish Power is commitment to recruiting and training people to have careers within the organization.
Scottish Power currently employs 8500 people across the UK and as part of the Iberdrola group is the 5th largest utility provider in the world. The power sector in the UK employs over 90,000 people and with most of the skilled workforce expected to retire in the next 15 years the drive for new talent has never been more crucial. Scottish Power are committed to developing that talent in house and for the last two years have added a foundation programme to try and support young people on to their apprenticeship programme.
