Glasgow today (Wednesday 4 July) welcomed the Queen to the city as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Her Majesty was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh as George Square was transformed into a giant street party, on her first visit to Glasgow since 2006.

The George Square concert included Glasgow acts such as Gamu, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Hue and Cry, and youngsters from St Paul's Primary singing alongside Glasgow country star Laura McGhee, plus a performance by the Glasgow Youth Choir.

The free George Square event ran all day, with acts performing from 11am until 8.15pm.

Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Stuart Patrick said: "We are delighted to welcome Her Majesty to Glasgow as part of her Jubilee celebrations. George Square is the perfect civic space for the focus of her visit. The Chamber keenly supports the use of the Square for events which attract people into the city centre and which demonstrate that Glasgow is well able to put on a good show in the heart of the city."
