Once again, Glasgow Green plays host to the World Pipe Band Championships, as the competition returns to its heartland on 11 August.
Over 40,000 spectators are expected to turn out to marvel at the spectacle of over 8,000 pipers, drummers and performers for the biggest week of traditional music this summer.
The World Pipe Band Championships or 'The Worlds' have been held in Glasgow for almost 70 years while Piping Live! is entering its 9th year and has established itself as one of the world's top celebrations of Scottish culture showcasing a diverse blend of talent.
As well as being an enjoyable day out, the event is expected to provide a real boost business in the city. Thousands of fans will make their way to Glasgow, booking up hotel rooms and spending plenty of money in bars and restaurants around town.
Other attractions around the city this summer include The Merchant City Festival, celebrating its 11th year with street art, music, dance, theatre, heritage, design, film, visual art, comedy and food and drink in Glasgow's cultural quarter.
For anyone looking for some entertainment a bit sooner, The Glasgow Show takes place on Saturday and Sunday, with live music, extreme sports, dance performances, street theatre, countryside activities, children's funfair rides and a main arena filled with international acts to entertain all the family.
Events like these showcase the city's capacity to host top quality events and attract international artists, keeping us on the map as a visitor destination where people keep coming back to.
