Your Chamber is extremely proud to announce electronics giant Siemens has joined as our 10th Platinum Partner.

With their headquarters in Germany, Siemens is the world's biggest electronics and electrical engineering firm employing around almost 360,000 employees over 190 counties.

The company is involved in all manner of business sectors from energy to transport, healthcare and media, as well as supplying all manner of commercial goods.

For over 160 years, Siemens has stood for technological excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality.

The company is also the world's largest provider of environmental technologies, in fact around 40 percent of its total revenue stems from green products and solutions.

Siemens reported revenue from continuing operations in its 2011 fiscal year as €73.5 billion and a net income of €7.0 billion, enshrining their position as an industry leader in electronics.

Nigel Kirby, Siemen's Account Director for Scotland said "Siemens understands that cities are the engines driving future growth and that this growth offers both challenges and opportunities for development.  As an organisation, we now have approximately 80 City Account Managers around the World and I am delighted to represent the City of Glasgow.

"The needs of cities are enormously wide-ranging, thereby they represent a completely new kind of customer - one for which a large portion of the Siemens portfolio is of interest.

"One of the key tasks of a City Account Manager is to provide comprehensive advice to these customers and our Platinum membership of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce is an ideal platform for us to reach out and engage with this wide group of organisations and stakeholders to advise the City, not only with respect to the technology and solutions that Siemens can offer to upgrade their infrastructure, but also with respect to the economic efficiency of such investments and the financing assistance that Siemens can provide.

"As an organisation, we have historical links to Glasgow.  Siemens was established in the United Kingdom 169 years ago and our founder, Sir William Siemens, met and married Anne Gordon through his friendship with her brother Lewis who was the Professor of Engineering at the University of Glasgow.

"Today, Siemens employs 13,000 people in the UK and last year's revenues were £4.4 billion*. As a leading global engineering and technology services company, Siemens provides innovative solutions to help tackle the world's major challenges, across the key sectors of energy, industry, infrastructure & cities and healthcare. Siemens has offices and factories throughout the UK, with its headquarters in Frimley, Surrey. The company's global headquarters is in Munich, Germany. For more information, visit www.siemens.co.uk
