City Plan 3

Your Chamber is calling on all members to take part in the public consultation to help shape the city's new Local Development Plan.
The City Council has a duty to prepare, and keep up-to-date, a Local Development Plan (LDP) for Glasgow.
As well as setting out Glasgow City Council's land use strategy for the coming years, the LDP also provides a basis for assessing future planning applications.
To ensure that Glasgow's coverage remains up-to-date and relevant, the City Council is preparing a new LDP which, on completion (scheduled to be 2014), will replace City Plan 2.
The new plan with be the blueprint for the look and feel of the city, ensuring there is the right mix of shops, employment and housing which is needed to support Glasgow's population in the next few years.
It is important to reflect and take on board the views, ideas and vision of both the public and the business community and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce wishes to ensure its members also have their say.
Members interested in having their say can also take advantage of a business-specific drop in session, to be held in the offices of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, 11 George Square on Thursday, 10 November.
The session will be open from 9am until 5pm and staff will be on hand to answer questions about the process and how businesses can engage with it.
The first key phase of public consultation in the production of the new LDP is on a Main Issues Report (MIR).
This is aimed at encouraging discussion on the key changes that have occurred since City Plan 2 was prepared and at identifying the main issues that the LDP is likely to address, as well as the Council's ideas as to where development should and should not take place.
The MIR is accompanied by a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Interim Environmental Report and City Plan 2 Monitoring Statement, on which comments are also welcomed.
The public consultation commenced on October 3 and will run for 10 weeks until December 12. A copy of the MIR, as well as further relevant information, is available on the council's website: www.glasgow.gov.uk/developmentplan
Note that comments can also be emailed to developmentplan@glasgow.gov.uk or provided in writing to the Development Plan Team at Development Plan Team, Glasgow City Council D.R.S, 229 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1QU (the word version of the Personal Response Form and Comment Response Form can also be printed, completed and submitted to this address).
