City's biggest airline also confirms news of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce partnership with flight discount offer for 1800-strong membership.
Airline giant easyJet has demonstrated its commitment to Glasgow by agreeing a new partnership with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce - and at the same time revealing new London flights and special offers for the city's business community.
At a Glasgow Chamber of Commerce breakfast event, easyJet confirmed a new 0700 Glasgow to Gatwick flight will start from June 6, with an increased four-a-day city-to-city frequency to follow this winter.
The airline, Glasgow Airport's biggest, also confirmed its 'Scotland Flex' offering is being introduced to Glasgow from April 5, giving passengers the freedom to fly back (early) from any London airport to any Scottish airport.
Other offers announced to the audience of Glasgow businesses included a 40% discount on easyJet plus cards (April only) which provides speedy boarding and other benefits.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet's commercial manager for Scotland, said: "Our flights between Glasgow and London boast some of the highest percentages of business travellers across our entire network, so we wanted to thank Glasgow customers for their loyalty by introducing these new and exciting products. In addition, passengers can avoid the hassle of Heathrow by choosing to fly to one of the three other London airports served by easyJet."
Meanwhile, easyJet's new "Partner for Glasgow" agreement will see the Chamber support the airline through ongoing promotion to the wider business community and by co-announcing future developments at Glasgow Airport.
To celebrate, easyJet is offering all Glasgow Chamber of Commerce members £5 off any booking made for flights to and from London during the month of April - terms and conditions can be found at the foot of this notice. easyjet will also run a competition to give one member company a pair of tickets to any of the airline's 14 destinations from Glasgow. The competition will run from April 1 with details to be confirmed on the Chamber website.
Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: "We are absolutely thrilled and excited to welcome easyJet as one of our 'partners for Glasgow'.
"As a vocal champion for Glasgow's economic growth we know how crucial air routes and in turn easyJet is to the future prosperity of the city. That's why Glasgow Chamber of Commerce's newest member has such significance and we are very encouraged to hear of some of the very positive announcements made this morning.
"The new partnership is great news for our wider membership who I am sure will warmly welcome the April discount offer as well as the terrific competition prize."
The partnership was confirmed by easyJet at its Glasgow Chamber of Commerce breakfast networking event at the Blythswood Square Hotel.
easyjet has also launched a new route between Jersey and Glasgow
Jersey now has a direct link to Scotland after Easyjet announced a new route from the island to Glasgow.
The flights to the Scottish city will depart three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between June and September.
The new route will be Easyjet's second from Jersey. It currently operates daily flights to Liverpool.
Ali Gayward, UK commercial manager at Easyjet, said: "This is great news for Jersey.
"Not only will we make a positive contribution to local tourism in the island, we will also provide Jersey residents with an affordable link to Scotland."
Senator Paul Routier, Assistant Minister for Economic Development, said: "Easyjet's announcement is excellent news in terms of the opportunities this low-cost air route will afford island residents as well as the inbound tourism benefits.
"Easyjet already operates a successful and well-established year-round service to Liverpool from Jersey and we are confident that, providing passengers take advantage of the service, Glasgow will achieve similar results."
