'WORLD WAR Z' is based on Max Brooks' best-selling novel 'WORLD WAR Z: AN ORAL HISTORY OF THE ZOMBIE WAR'. Set in the near future, the story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling its armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
We plan to create an American-style town centre in George Square for scenes in which Gerry Lane is stuck in gridlocked traffic as zombies attack. There will be controlled car stunts and along with choreographed battle sequences.
We will be co-ordinating traffic management in conjunction with Glasgow Highways and Police.
The closures and diversions for traffic will have an effect on traffic flow in the area We would advise to avoid the area with vehicles if you can, however, the streets will still be open for pedestrians.
Please be aware that for filming, access to some of the streets within the closure area and George Square can be restricted at times for health and safety reasons. Pedestrian may be asked to wait for a few minutes or asked to seek an alternative route around the filming area. Please note the filming will take place during day light hours from 0700 to 2000 hours.
Outside these hours the road closures for traffic are still in force.
We will be holding a Public Meeting on Wednesday 13 July at 1800 hours at the Lecture Theatre at the Parish Halls on 266 George Street, Glasgow G1.
We are making every effort to minimize the impact of our filming may have on business in your community. Our experienced locations crew has dealt with the complexities of filming in an urban environment and will work on residents' behalf to address issues such as deliveries within the enclosure zone. If you have any questions regarding the filming, please contact us on the film mobile below.
The production is working closely with Glasgow Film Office, Land & Environment Services, the Glasgow City Council Roads and Events Department, and with Strathclyde Police. We hope the positive economic impact on the city will help offset any inconvenience resulting from our operations.
