Glasgow Talks ... With Jim Mullen, Chief Executive Officer, Ladbrokes Coral
Glasgow Talks - supported by Clydesdale Bank and University of Glasgow Business School - is Glasgow Chamber's monthly series of business seminars featuring influential guest speakers drawn from the business and political elite.
This May we are delighted to welcome Jim Mullen, Chief Executive Officer at Ladbrokes Coral.
Jim’s extensive experience in the gaming and betting industry, particularly online gaming, has helped steer the company to success, with Ladbrokes Coral now the UK’s biggest high street bookmaker with a significant online presence.
Born in Glasgow, Jim attended school in Hamilton and funded his higher education working in a local betting shop at weekends. He has a degree in Computing from Glasgow Caledonian University and a Masters in Software Engineering from the University of Westminster.
Jim joined Ladbrokes in October 2013 as Managing Director of the Digital business. Prior to joining Ladbrokes, he was Chief Operating Officer for William Hill’s Digital operations for three years and held senior positions at the Murray Group, Arc Worldwide and News International where he was Director of Digital Strategy.
At this Glasgow Talks we will hear from Jim on what it is like to lead a FTSE 150 company and one of the largest retail property holders on the high street, employing over 20,000 people in more than 3,500 shops across the UK.
Jim will also discuss how he has successfully managed the merger of Ladbrokes and Coral and the process of change management, the company’s commitment to responsible gambling and some of the political challenges facing the wider betting shop industry.
